Animax Carnival Malaysia 2013

After a long time of trying to get my L license for driving, college applications and procrastination, I have finally found the time to write this post. I apologize for the long delay.

On the 16th and 17th of March I went to Animax Carnival, an ACG event hosted by Animax, the only anime channel available in Asia, even though they have strayed from the anime path these past few years by running KDramas and Korean entertainment programs there which is the reason I no longer tune in to Animax. But as you all know, I can never pass up an opportunity to attend an ACG event.

DAY 1
At approximately 10am I met up with Yuki and Reira at the train station and we had to wait 50 minutes for the train. When we got on the train we went to the Putrajaya station and I met Ruui for the first time. We then got on Reira's sister's car and she dropped us off at Sunway Pyramid.

Here is how the venue looked like from the highest floor.

Meet Ruui. He was cosplaying as Hidenori from Daily Lives of High School Boys. I waited with him while Yuki and Reira went to get changed. When we got to the venue the line was just too long so we decided to not go in. Besides, most of the other cosplayers were outside too. Took me almost an hour to help Yuki and Reira get ready at this corner where we also left our bags at.

Yuki was Deidara that day so I only had to help him put on some black eyeliner and black nail polish. The pictures I took of him did not show his face so I had to steal this picture from a stranger who tagged him on Facebook. Credits to the stranger!

Reira was Default Hatsune Miku. I only helped her with sticking on her eyelashes and the rest she did herself. The wig was such a tangled mess but it was borrowed from someone else so we could not do much about it sadly.

Finally here I am with my Hello Kitty shirt and bunny hat that I got from last year's Comic Fiesta. I swear was not cosplaying but all these people still wanted to take my pictures. I walked around with Ruui a lot that day.

The first person we took a picture with was this Pepsi guy. Pepsi should seriously pay him for advertising them at the event.

Then there were some Fairy Tail and Youko x Boku SS cosplayers. There was one hot body half nude cosplayer but I was way too shy to ask for a picture.

Soon we bumped into Forat. Then for lunch me, Reira and Ruui ate some doughnuts from J.CO. Halfway through Forat decided to join us. It was so flattering that the people who worked there wanted our pictures too.

After lunch I bumped into Kieth who was cosplaying as Kirito from Sword Art Online. He was a senior of mine from secondary school and I have not seen him since he graduated but we used to chat online a lot.

I also met up with Afina, a junior of mine from secondary school who was Marceline from Adventure Time when we (Reira, Ruui and I) went to the arcade to kill some time. Everything about her was so cool!

A while later when we went back to the venue I saw these awesome military Counter Strike people.

Then I saw Momo again!

And also Christopher as Hibari. He looks like a balding old man in this picture. His wig was so uncooperative that day. Forat gave me his Fanta that I was holding in this picture by the way in case you are wondering why I am holding a Fanta.

Then when I got tired and went back to where we left our bags I hung out with Rin who was a friggin hot bishie.

She then stole my bunny hat. Gosh she is so gorgeous!

Eventually I met Jason who was a crow creature. He let me hold his shield and sword. Also met Amirrul who was standing behind me in this picture.

Soon Timmy AKA Keisuke who was Kirito came to join our little group.

Before I knew it our group grew and I hung out with these awesome peeps for the rest of the event. Soon when it was 7.30pm and we had to leave. Reira, Ruui, Forat and I took the KTM to Mid Valley for dinner. Jason also joined us but he took a taxi instead. By the time I got home it was 10pm and I was so tired.

DAY 2
My dear friend Nat picked me up from home at 9am. When we got to the venue it was 10am. The moment Yuki got there I helped him get ready at the same spot as the day before. I spent nearly an hour applying teal nail polish on him, grooming his manly eyebrows and doing his makeup. Sorry again Yuki for causing you so much pain.

This was the result of my work. He was Default Hatsune Miku. Credits to Sam Wu for this picture. I also spent another hour helping another friend with her makeup and helping another cosplayer to spike up his wig. I must say I did a pretty good job on those too. Unfortunately I have no pictures of them.

Nat and me were neko sisters. She was originally her own version of Cheshire Cat but since I decided to wear my neko ears as well, we decided to be neko sisters instead.

After doing all that work I met up with Jason who was Dead Pool. Poor Nat kept getting teased by him.

Also met up with Ruui!

When Ruui, Jason, Nat and I were on our way to get brunch we saw this really gorgeous Tifa cosplayer.

I finally saw a Hakuouki cosplayer too!

I also took a picture with this Munakata cosplayer.

For brunch we had Starbucks. People were staring at us while we were having our food and drinks. We also had plenty of laughter. After brunch we went back to the venue.

Momo was Predator that day.

Also got to see Ezzy. The awesome Kakashi cosplayer that I met during Comic Fiesta 2012.

And this dude with a super awesome costume. It was so hot outside that day I really salute him for wearing that.

Then there were these two siblings as Munakata and Fushimi. They were so awesome. Somehow one of them managed to find themselves in my photos.

This Byakuran from Katekyo Hitman Reborn cosplayer wanted a picture with me the same time I asked for his picture.

A random horse head minding his own business.

Then these Kuroko no Basuke cosplayers. The tall guy on the right, I took his pictures during last year's Comic Fiesta but I do not think he recognizes me.

At approximately 4pm everyone from the Underworld Runners Productions gathered outside the venue to shoot a second video.

At that time Jason changed into Batman and Reira finally arrived as Poison Ivy.

While waiting around I got to meet and talk to Martin, this Sebastian cosplayer. He was the only one who was Sebastian throughout the whole event.

Rin was Fushimi that day. Kakkoi as always.

Then Momo gave me and Nat paper roses that he made himself.

And there was this Akito cosplayer! I was so excited to see Akito!

I also got to meet Nodame, a Harley Quinn cosplayer. She was drinking Coca Cola when I asked her to take this picture with me.

There was also this little Batman there. He is Neo, a fellow cosplayer and choreographer's son. So adorable!

At 6pm they finished shooting everyone and we all had to leave.

While waiting for everyone to finish changing out of their costume I went around in circles while getting stopped to take pictures. I came across these awesome people dressed real cool.

Before we left I also bumped into Christina AKA Kii who was cosplaying as a Fairy Tail character and I joked about her bandages falling off.

Then me, Nat, Reira, Jason, Ezzy, the URP crew and Forat went to have dinner at Pappa Rich.

Here are Ezzy and Jason.

Aleef, the director of URP and Forat on the phone.

And here's Nat.

And here is me and Reira in her almost casual attire.

Then at 8.30pm Nat's driver finally arrived and by the time I got home it was 9.30pm and I was so tired.

I also filmed this video of Jason and Ruui fighting.

I also met Jeffrey Brown, a guy who makes cosplay videos during ACG events. Me and a few of my friends are in those videos.

And finally, here are my nails that I did for Animax Carnival. That is all for now, until next time!

Bitchiest Doctor Ever

Last week I was forced to visit a government clinic because I have finally received the following notification.

Do I even look army material? No. Plus I have joint and stomach issues so obviously I am not. I went to the clinic near Lake Garden called Klinik Kesihatan Tanglin for a check up so I can be excused from the army for the rest of my life. Got there at 9am and while waiting for the clinic to open, me and my mom chatted with an ex-principal who sat next to us. She was really nice.

The nurses in the clinic were all really nice and friendly. However when it came to the nurse and doctor from Room 8, not so much. The nurse practically yelled at me when I put my info form with a few missing details into the box. It was my first time there and I did not know what I had to do. So after filling everything in she called me into the room.

The doctor I saw was a Chinese lady doctor who looked pretty young. My guess is she just started working not long ago because she seemed so inexperienced. The first thing she had to comment on when I walked in was about my hair, "Wow your hair, so 'yeah' huh? Is that why you don't want to get into the army?" Bitch please, can you not read the letter from my knee surgeon about my health issue? It is NOT about my hair. When my mom explained to her about my knee issues she said "She's fine what, can walk, can wear high heel." Yes, she never pronounced the "S" and no, they were not heels, they were 2" wedges which do not effect my knees at all. When my mom asked her about this thing that showed up in my blood test she did not even bother to explain, all she said was "Oh, it's nothing." What the hell, I could be dying and you would not even know! Then my mom told her about how I have to continuously check up on my other knee since it is at risk of dislocating as well. She asked for the appointment card which did not write my next check up date and she was all "Then that means she doesn't need to go anymore". When we explained to her that the surgeon said to call again next time for the appointment she did not believe us. In the end she was forced to fill in the form to not let me go, she said "Since you have a letter I have no choice but to approve it". Why the heck was she so unwilling? She even said "If they call me up I can't help you, it is my first time dealing with someone who was unfit for the army". Seriously, Doc, you need to take the bitch medicine to calm the heck down and you should go back to medical school. Before I left she even said that I had a urine infection and told me to go take another urine test at another clinic. When my mom asked her if she could prescribe any medication she said no. Excuse me, is it not YOUR job as a DOCTOR to be sure of what I have and to treat me if there is something wrong with me? Your job requires you to deal with patients nicely and to treat them and you suck at those. Seriously, RESIGN.

Later in the evening after I submitted the doctor's form to the PLKN office, my mom brought me to another private clinic for another urine test. Turns out I was perfectly fine and healthy. When my mom told this doctor about what happened with the bitch doctor at the government clinic and how she refused to prescribe me anything, the doctor shook her head. See, that bitch is a friggin disgrace. I cannot be bothered with lodging a complaint, I am going to wait for that bitch to piss more people off until all that bad karma strikes her all at once.

Thinking back about that incident still makes my blood boil. I swear I am never going to a government medical center ever again.

Pierce The Veil and Sleeping With Sirens LIVE in Kuala Lumpur

Before I start off the post about the gig I would like to announce that the Cosplay Fight Video is FINALLY OUT! Here it is!

For first timers we all did pretty good I must say, although some parts were less than good. My favorite was the light saber scene and the dialogue between Yuki and Korra.

Moving on, the gig happened on the 17th February, the very same day as Paramore's 2nd LIVE in Kuala Lumpur. Coincidentally the venue for the gig, Stadium Chin Woo was right next to Stadium Negara where Paramore was playing. I decided not to catch Paramore this time due to several reasons. Mainly because their tickets were way overpriced and I have already watched them once back in 2010. Plus I am not a huge fan of their newer songs.

At 4pm my mom dropped me off at the slope leading up to the entrance. I met up with Kevin after two long years of not seeing each other while waiting for Reira. Turns out her first taxi driver dropped her off at Stadium Negara and she got lost while searching for the venue. We were anxious about the amount of people in the line so we decided to go up to the entrance to wait for her instead. After taking another taxi, she finally made it and we were together at last. Turns out there was no line and people were scattered around the parking lot.

At 6pm Kevin went off to meet up with his group of friends. Reira and I decided to crowd in front of the doors along with everyone else since it was already time for the doors to open. Unfortunately, the organizers told us to get back out and while backing out everyone was chanting "asshole" at them.

This was the crowd in front of me outside the entrance after backing out.

And this was the crowd behind me after backing out. After half an hour of waiting they decided to let us back in in front of the doors.

It took us a while there to finally get in. So while waiting I decided to take a few pictures.

That's the ticket in my hand in case you were wondering. The moment we passed through those doors we ran straight to the front while the first opening act, Massacre Conspiracy was playing.

They were pretty good. Up next was The Padangs, they were really good and they were cute too. I did not take a picture of them playing due to being distracted by their awesomeness.

After that, Scarlet Heroes, they were okay. Right after their performance I met Reira's sister, Aida for the very first time.

It was such a pleasure meeting her. While the MCs were talking there were these crazy guys standing next to us shouting the most random things at them. So Reira and I decided to join in as well.

The guy next to me in the picture, I think his name is Syafiq, managed to get up on stage right before SWS left and even got a shout out from Kellin Quinn. Me and Reira are still kicking ourselves for not sticking with them throughout the night.

Right before PTV came out me, Reira and Aida decided to go further front. Unfortunately, the moment they were up the moshing turned into pushing. We were being pushed to the front, left, right and back while trying hard not to fall down. A while later we managed to get out and to the back.

This was how far we got from the stage, only a few meters away from the "push pit" as I would call it. The first song they played was Hell Above, which I managed to take a short video of.

The shaky part was when I was headbanging. After that I was too busy enjoying the show.

I did manage to take this pretty clear picture of Vic Fuentes though. From what I can remember they played "Hell Above", "Disasterology", "Stay Away From My Friends", "Bulls In The Bronx", "Bulletproof Love", "Caraphernelia", "A Match Into Water", "Chemical Kids and Mechanical Brides" and definitely "King For A Day". Everyone went crazy on that one. After they were done it was time for a break.

I think a few people left during the break but not many. I also got to know one of Aida's friends, Dexter.

Turns out he was in an accident the day before and his chin was busted up. Also it was my first time meeting someone with gauges in their ears. He is pretty hilarious.

Soon enough, SWS came up.

The four of us were standing right next to the sound people throughout the rest of the show.

Took this picture myself at the beginning of their performance. Kellin is just to die for.

Aida also helped me take this really clear picture of Kellin Quinn. I have heard most the songs from SWS but I have forgotten about them. However, I do remember "If You Can't Hang" and "If I'm James Dean You're Audrey Hepburn" which are also my favorite songs and they did play them that night. Everyone went crazy when they were playing those two songs, especially "If I'm James Dean You're Audrey Hepburn" since it was the last song for the night. The gig ended at 11pm.

After the entire gig I met up with Kevin again and parted with Reira and everyone else. We got ourselves some drinks and walked to the LRT station. Sadly it was already closed so we took a taxi to Jusco Maluri and parted ways.

The moment I got home I raved about the gig on Facebook and hopped into the shower.

This is what was left of my ticket which has been added to my mementos collection. It was definitely an epic night. The next three days my neck and shoulders were killing me but it was all worth it.
