COMIC FIESTA 2012

On the 22nd and 23rd of December I went to Comic Fiesta 2012 (CF for short). Comic Fiesta is the biggest ACG (Anime, Comics and Games) event in Malaysia held every year. People who attend the event ranges from curious normal people, cosplayers, geeks and otakus. This year it was held in the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center.

A few months prior to the event I have already pre-ordered Early Bird Tickets along with my buddy, Nat. We have also decided to cosplay for the very first time in our lives for the event since it was also our first time attending CF. The day before CF I went to watch Jackie Chan's newest and final movie CZ12 with my mom. It was really good, but it's really sad that it was his final movie and there were a few cameo appearances by other famous actors, right before the movie ended his real wife made an appearance. After the movie I went to collect my tickets and then I went over to Nat's house for a sleepover. I could not sleep well the whole night since I wasn't used to the environment and we slept pretty late because we were finishing up her Korra costume. These are the nails I did following my character's theme.

DAY 1
Got woken up by Nat's mom at 7am. In the end we could only manage to get into costume and get my wig on. We left at 8.30am, got to the venue at 9am and the que for ticket buyers was really long. Glad that we already had Early Bird tickets so we could get into the hall earlier than everyone. While we were waiting for the gates to open we put on our makeup, and wigs. Mine was poorly put on so I had to try putting it on again. While doing this the staff were giving away goodie bags but somehow ended up missing us.

At exactly 10am the gate opened and we all went in. Me and Nat sat at the side and waited for Deanna to help us get ready more since my wig was not cooperating and Nat's wig was untied. In the end we finally got my wig on and Nat's wig had to be put up with my hair clip. I was cosplaying as Chi from Chobits, wore my 6 inch platform heels without padding, decided not to put on the arm accessories and train that were part of the costume and my wig was 120cm long. Sounds like an oncoming hot mess right?

While waiting for the glue to dry for my ears we sat at the cafe and chatted. Here's my cosplay without the Chi ears.

Here's Nat and Deanna.

Finally I had my ears on!

After that we walked around for a while and we saw some people drawing on a banner.

So Nat decided to join them too.

Also saw lots of gorgeous Ball Jointed Dolls (BJD). Sigh, how I wish I was rich enough to own a collection of these.

While walking around there were so many people who stopped us to take pictures, it was so much fun. Then Nat found someone dressed as Deadmau5 and wanted to take a picture with him.

After that we found a super awesome Kakashi cosplayer! We took pictures with him and I even got a hug from him. I think I have a crush on him now.

At that point my wig was riding up and I felt that it was about to fall off so we went back to the cafe to fix the problem. At the same time we waited for some of Deanna's friends. After a while another Korra came up to us.

She looked very familiar and then it came to me that she is also a fellow AlieNoid, Adel Cheah who was at the big Tokio Hotel fan meeting over a year ago. As you can see from the picture, Nat's wig was too long. Unfortunately we could not cut it because she did not own a good pair of scissors. After that Deanna's friends came by and one of them was Slenderman.

Then the three of us resumed to walking around and we bumped into Alisa (cosplaying as Sheryl Nome from Macross Frontier) and Afiqah (cosplaying as Kurosu Yuuki from Vampire Knight, one of my most favorite animes), friends of Deanna. Here's Afiqah's cosplay with her awesome self made scythe.

We ended up being very good friends and Alisa even helped me fix my wig issue while getting interrupted by several passerby who wanted to photograph us every minute. Turns out my wig would not stay put because my wig cap was too loose and would not keep my real hair in place. We also took turns watching each others' baggage. While me and Alisa were walking around, I found a super tall SAO (Sword Art Online) Kirito cosplayer.

Even with my 6 inch platform heels I could only reach his shoulders. Then there was another SAO cosplayer, this time it was Klein.

There were so many SAO cosplayers but those two were the best ones in my opinion. Alisa had to help pull up my wig every 3 minutes because it kept trolling me. Then we went back to the gang. I sat down to rest and while holding my wig there were a bunch of people who photographed me. After being fed up with my uncooperative wig I decided to take it off.

Then came a Grim Reaper.

After Alisa and Afiqah came back from their turn of walking around I went to walk around with Nat. It was at this time that I saw the most cutest mascot that I have ever seen in my entire life sitting at an artist booth.

Me and Nat were literally squealing about how cute it was the entire time. I wanted to go over the counter and give it a giant bear hug! However, I decided to resist that urge because I would end up scaring the mascot. I could feel blisters forming under my left foot and I was getting tired so we went back to the gang. I took off my heels and while sitting there Afiqah's scythe kept falling and it was swinging in everyone's faces. I noticed so many handsome and really cool non-cosplaying guys walking by, a lot of them were rocking the Visual Kei look. I also took pictures with my buddies. Here's me and Alisa.

Oddly though, quite a lot of people still wanted to photograph me even without my wig and when I was already out of cosplay mode. Nat also decided to meditate in the middle of the crowd.

At around 5pm me and Nat had to leave. We each bought a pair of neko ears, here's me wearing Nat's with pink ribbons, mine are the same but with purple ribbons.

While we were walking to the Shopping Center my the blisters under my left foot were killing me. At the same time we were photographed by a couple of people. We met up with Nat's mom and little sister at DOME. Let me warn all of you reading this, DOME HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER. Their waiters totally ignored us when we were about to ask for the bill.

After that, they dropped me home. I was so tired that I didn't even notice that I left my makeup bag and hair clip with Nat. When I took off my stockings, I had two pretty big blisters under my foot and the skin came off one of them, it hurt so much to walk! Mom wrapped it up with bandages and we had to go pick up my sister-in-law from work. When we got home Mom applied some Chinese ointment on my wound and wrapped it with bandages again. And so, Comic Fiesta Day 1 was over!

DAY 2
I woke up at 7.30am to get ready, due to the fact that Nat had my makeup bag with her, I had to make do with my spare makeup. I decided not to cosplay that day because of my wig cap. Then at 8.30am mom ate breakfast with me at Coffee Bean in KLCC. An hour later I waited in the hot weather outside the line for Ceilingfan to show up. Soon enough she came and we went in. Once we got in we sat down at the side with the other cosplayers who were getting ready. I helped put on her makeup.

I should seriously consider makeup artistry as my career path. As we were about to get to the exhibition booths there was a Rilakkuma mascot!

As we walked through the exhibition booths we were given loads of cards. Soon after we reached the artist booths and this was the first BJD that I saw that day.

And then there were these dolls which I think were placed real cutely.

After walking in a circle we walked past the cafe and I took a picture of an Alice from Madness Returns and the Red Queen.

That Alice was pretty spot on! Then we came to a crossplayer who was wearing a sailor fuku. I remember on Day 1 he was Sailor Moon.

I think he's also a famous photographer, his photographs were amazing! Then there was a swarm of photographers surrounding these guys.

There were also lots of people carrying props with them. I have never seen so many fake swords and guns in one place in my entire life. Then I saw this BJD that was absolutely breath-takingly gorgeous.

Then there was a Kuroshitsuji Sebastian cosplayer.

Later we walked by an artist booth that had this.

I thought "OMG there's a bro here? I have to meet this bro!" Trust me, I never expected to meet a fellow bro there. We then came across this Super Star Live booth and they gave me 2 copies of the game. I decided to take part in the karaoke contest. Ceilingfan had to leave me for her cosplay group at that time. An hour of waiting later I entered and I failed on purpose. Then I went back to the bro's booth and I finally met the bro himself.

We then did Pewdiepie impersonations and I even got a bro fist! His friend helped take this picture.

Then I walked around more and I saw these two guys carrying "free slaps" signs. I decided to go up to them and slap them real hard. So hard that even the promoter at the nearby booth went "wow". I think they did it as a match because they counted the slaps they got, I think the "hipster" won. After that, I saw Dan Khoo and quickly went up to him and asked for a picture.

He then asked me a few questions and was pretty surprised when I told him it was my casual wear. When we parted I thought "OMG I JUST MET DAN KHOO!" Here's the video he did for CF 2012, I am at 8:32. The guys I slapped are at 1:53.

Then I walked around and got stopped by several people who wanted to photograph me and I wasn't even cosplaying. There were these two girls who were, I think younger than me. They each took a picture with me and when I was turning around to walk away I heard them squealing in Mandarin "OMG SHE'S SO CUTE!" Definitely a huge ego boost there. Then I took a picture of this Street Fighter Poison crossplayer.

And then there was another Alice from Madness Returns. I loved her super realistic looking Hobby Horse.

Soon after I found a Miketsukami Soushi (Inu X Boku SS) cosplayer. I took his picture on Day 1 too dressed as another character which I do not know of because he was really tall and I thought his teeth were cute.

After that I met up with Afiqah and Alisa. Afiqah was dressed in a sailor fuku.

Alisa was still Sheryl Nome.

We then met up with their friends who were crossplaying as Kurama from Yu Yu Hakusho.

Gosh I missed that anime. I watched it back when it was still playing on Animax (I no longer watch Animax). Me and Kurama!

Me and Kurama, fox version.

While they were talking I took a picture of this Kaito cosplayer.

When me, Afiqah and Alisa were about to exit the event hall I took a picture with this guy in a Bandai Crusade suit.

We also met Vio, a pretty famous Singaporean crossplayer who post cosplay pictures on Deviantart and she even gave each of us her name card.

And then another Kakashi cosplayer! Somehow I seem to think every Kakashi cosplayer is hot.

Then these two people in military costumes, I am not sure from which anime though.

Then there was a Grim Reaper and No-Face from Spirited Away! I watched that movie 6 times, the first was in Cantonese when I was around five years old.

Then there were these super cool Bleach cosplayers.

And another Soushi! He was so cute!

Then Kuroshitsuji Sebastian and Grell crossplayers.

And also Letter Bee!

The guy looked familiar though. When we were outside at the park we saw so many cosplayers having mini-photoshoots. We got stopped many times to take photographs too and a Youtuber wanted to shoot a video with us. At the same time I saw this Naruto cosplayer holding a "free hugs" sign and went there for a hug.

When we re-entered the hall there were a lot more cosplayers having mini-photoshoots. I met the same Kakashi as Day 1. Did not get to hug him this time though. Not sure if he recognized me.

Then, at the corner of my eyes, I saw these two tall and extremely handsome guys. I quickly went up to them and asked for a photograph.

I cannot believe I stood between such gorgeous guys, they even smelled good too! Then a random photographer came over and wanted to take a picture of us too! I really wanted to hug them so badly but I didn't dare to because I was sweating while outside at the park. Stupid me I didn't even ask for their names or email! Me, Afiqah and Alisa had to leave at 6pm and while we were about to go, Alisa found another Sheryl Nome cosplayer.

When we were walking towards the shopping center we were stopped quite a lot of times to be photographed. We then parted ways in the shopping center and I went to eat dinner with my mom at DuViet, my favorite Vietnamese restaurant. Their pho is the BEST. I took this picture while I was waiting for my food.

Then I started limping all the way to Isetan Supermarket to buy some fruits and cookies. When I went home, this awaited me.

It didn't hurt as much as the day before so I ignore it. I'm really sad that Comic Fiesta is over. I really want to attend more ACG events! Hopefully I will be able to go again next year. Sayonara Comic Fiesta 2012!

Here are all the free items I got from CF!

I ended up having three copies of Super Star Live, WTF?! And here are the items I bought from CF!

A crown, neko mimi, flower hair clip from Day 1 and bunny hat on Day 2! The next day I woke up to this.

Mom brought me to the clinic and the doctor said that it was infected. She disinfected it, cut off the dead skin and even cut off the skin on the other blister next to the infected one. Now my foot is nicely bandaged and I am on antibiotics to prevent the infection from spreading further. The wound is starting to itch so it means that it is finally starting to heal. I will be going in again the next evening to have it redressed.

Before I forget, Merry Christmas! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Christmas. As for me, I will be staying home to recover my aching body. This is Jelica, LolitaDollHime, signing off! Thank you to anyone reading this entire post, it means a lot to me and sorry for grossing you out with an infected foot!

I did not post all of the pictures here because there were too many. If you want to see all of them please go to my Facebook page. If any of you cosplayers were in these pictures, feel free to send me a message and add me!
